A new goal

Last night I found myself reading an article about how Jennifer Aniston doesn't think women need men to raise children. It was ridiculous in so many ways. And I thought to myself "there are people whose entire careers are devoted to reporting about celebrities lives." Isn't that pathetic? And I help perpetuate their "work" every time I click on a dumb link talking about a dumb movie star (or even worse, people who are celebrities for no real reason.)

I don't think I read celebrity gossip that much, but reading any of it is more than I need to. So I'm vowing to not read any stupid celebrity gossip for a year. (I'm only saying a year to give myself a tangible goal. Hopefully it will evolve into never reading any again.)

The end.

Very worthy goal. Good job! I find myself turning on the computer and it has all the "celeb" gossip and at times I am tempted to read it, but almost always decide that it's not worth my time. In the dentist office today, I was reading a magazine and was thinking, "I don't even know who the majority of these people are". Not worth reading, but I was thumbing thru it. Thanks for your great example.

You go Kelly! I'm with ya'. I tend to watch the entertainment news that comes on after regular news, which is totally time wasting and trashy.

You're such a good example. I've tried to watch those celebrity gossip TV shows and I feel sick every time. All of it truly is just GOSSIP!

Great goal. Crazy that there is such a large market for that kind of stuff.

Did you hear Miley Cyrus overdosed on OC when she heard allegations that she would be serving 13 days in prison because she wrote that she had an affair with Justin B. on her fingernail?
Broke my achy previously-unbroken heart.

So true. This is an interesting topic. Particularly because it IS so time wasting but more dangerously, it's unhealthy. I've noticed that if I am reading more "articles" on celebrities that I tend to be more dissatisfied with my own life. Because for some reason, even though I recognize in my logical brain it's not a true view of reality, my natural man falls for the glamorized trap.

I've never stooped to actually purchasing a magazine, but I've read some stuff on MSN from time to time. And it's unimportant. The day to day "philosophy" of famous people is truly unoriginal drivel.

It's hilarious to think that we even care what these people think and more frightening is that society in so many ways patterns itself based on the opinions of people who are most often using drugs, unfaithful, unhappy and even untalented. They should have the LEAST sway in our every day lives.

Yeah, that stuff Tyler Rowley mentioned was way intense. You should check it out. Did you also hear that Bill Pullman bought a winter house in the Washington Fields?

Hi! So you don't know me, but I'm Lyndy Butler's sister in law. I saw that you have a jogging stroller that you would like to sale. If Lynd doesn't want it, I will call her, I would LOVE IT! Let me know if you still have it! You can leave a comment on my blog kodyandstacierogers.blogspot.com
